Featuring the Blackberry Storm 2

The release of the new Blackberry Storm2 has been eagerly anticipated by consumers almost since the first Storm became available. Although previous owners of the first Blackberry Storm may not see much difference on the outside, there are vast amounts of user enhancements to justify the Storm’s second release. Significant upgrade on the overall speed has been increased; response time and the loading of websites have also had a dramatic overhaul. RIM’s SurePress Technology has either hit or miss with users, but this latest feature in the Storm2 has promised its critics an easier mode of functionality that will to ease the minds of doubters. Both flash memory and onboard media memory have been doubled from the original Storm, now 256MB, and 2GB, respectively. The new Wi-Fi capabilities of the Storm2 alone may be reason enough for many to make the upgrade immediately.

Even though the new Storm2 has the look and feel of the original Storm, it actually weighs a bit more than its younger sibling. This is because RIM took this time to redesign the Storm2 with higher quality construction. The screen has been replaced to one that wiggles less on the new device and the inclusion of the core keys on the display eliminates problems associated with dust getting behind the screen. The audio speakers have been strategically placed on the Storm2 at the base of the unit. This allows clear audio to be transmitted while the Storm2 is lying on its back without the need of an extra stand. The Palm PRE is a similar phone to the Blackberry Storm2 as it is touchscreen, so is the Palm Pixi as well.

While all these new features may seem enticing, you have to ask yourself the REAL question… Do you need to upgrade right away? Why rush into another device after spending amounts of time making the original Storm work for you? I don’t see the point and you’ll have nothing to worry about, the original Storm is still an adequate unit. Especially with rumors of a soon to be released software upgrade that may improve functioning on the Storm by including many of the software features of the Blackberry Storm2, the biggest improvements may prove to be the hardware and design, which many will find they can wait out their contracts to upgrade. Even with support and software updates for the original Storm, I know people are already drooling and dreaming of holding one of these babies in their hands. As mentioned earlier the Wi-Fi alone can be a selling point but coupled with a sleek design the Blackberry Storm2 is a sure winner in anyone’s book.
