How Mobile Phones Changed Our Lives
For the year 2008, there were 314.7 million cell phone units sold worldwide. Among those who were bought these gadgets were kids aged 10 years old. Today, the cell phone user population is being dominated by younger and younger generations.
It’s really amazing when you think about how far technology has brought us into the future. But what’s more mind blowing is to discover how great technology’s influence really is in our lives. Dependence has burrowed deep into our system and now, it seems that we are overruled by the tendency to rely on fancy equipments for the completion of our daily tasks. It was only sometime ago when people were able to get on with their routines without the help of laptops and personal digital assistants. Now, these nifty contraptions not only have dominated the hectic and demanding lives of adults but the simple and unadulterated world of children too.
Mobile phones have been a big help to us all. Through these ingenious creations, we’ve been able to simplify the process of communication and shorten distances between correspondents. As a result, transactions are easily made and business processes are overseen without any difficulty. CEOs can check up on their respective companies even on a business trip in the same manner parents do with their children. Some contemporary phones have the capacity to incorporate different software and programs in their system, so users have the advantage of downloading and using work-related or recreational applications on their phone.
But this convenience has somehow left some people careless towards their interaction with others. Some allow interpersonal relationships to be built on texts and calls. Some assume that texts and calls are enough to maintain a relationship with someone. Most are more comfortable at being callous because they have the escape of SMS. Through these, we begin to see how socially damaged we’ve become because of cell phones.
Now in addition, several illnesses have been attributed to prolonged cell phone use; one of which is brain cancer. Though there has been no sufficient evidence to back this up, it still raises some concern, especially since there are more than a million people who use these gadgets everyday.
Regardless, with mobile phones, the good simply outweighs the bad. And the indefinite accusations brought up are merely suggestions people can set aside for future consideration. The benefits gained from mobile phone use are just too much to relinquish for the sake of social reformatting. So while most consumers are still finding relevance in these gadgets, and more fields consider them purposeful; the mobile phone industry is only set to grow powerful in the coming years.
So at the very least, aside from choosing the right mobile phone for our personal use, we should also discern correctly on whether it is necessary to utilize for particular occassions and dispositions.
